Software Engineer, Security Engineering Team : IT, Security, and Corporate Engineering Location : Seattle, Washington About the Role At Opendoor our goal is to build the biggest, most trusted housing platform and set a new standard for how people move. Our Security Engineering team is building intelligent systems that protect Opendoor and our customers while enabling unprecedented engineering velocity. We apply software engineering and AI to solve security problems across product, infrastructure, and operations by building guardrails where they matter, not gates where they don't. What You'll Do Build systems and AI agents that harden infrastructure, protect sensitive data, and facilitate safe transactions for home acquisition, resale, mortgage, title, and escrow. Design workflows and CI/CD pipelines that enable engineers and non-engineers alike to design, build, and ship safely. Set new standards and security patterns for AI maximalist engineering and operations. Apply deep expertise in threat modeling and risk management to understand and enable complex business operations. Mentor engineers and colleagues in security, software engineering, and AI. Tech Stack Languages : Python, Go, Ruby, Terraform Corporate Platforms : Okta, AWS, Google Workspace, Slack, Jamf, CrowdStrike Engineering : AWS, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) AI Tools : Claude, OpenAI, agent frameworks, workflow automation What You'll Need Deep conviction that AI and automation should eliminate manual work humans shouldn't be doing anyway. You're excited to replace developer toil and reactive firefighting with automated systems and guardrails. Business enablement security mindset - measuring security success by business impact, which means informed risk taking. 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong skills in Python, Go, or similar languages. Expertise in cloud security architecture, Kubernetes, container orchestration, and identity management. Humility and genuine curiosity鈥攜ou're as excited to learn and enable the business and your colleagues as you are to utilize cutting edge tools and techniques in security and AI. Bonus Points For Incident response training and experience. M.S. in Computer Science or security-focused graduate work. Compensation The base pay range for this position in Seattle is $214,000 - $294,000 USD annually and in Toronto it is $177,000-243,000 CAD, plus RSUs and bo
